Practice Recap: Present Tenses

Goal: The student stops guessing tenses and starts choosing them logically. This recap turns the previous present-tense lesson into a clear decision system, then practises it through speaking, correction, tense comparison, and real communication.

1. The Present Tense Decision System

Before choosing the tense, ask: What is the speaker trying to show?

1 Habit / routine / fact?
Use Present Simple.
I work.She works.
2 Happening now / temporary?
Use Present Continuous.
I am working.
3 Past action connected to now?
Use Present Perfect.
I have worked.
4 Started before now and still continuing / duration matters?
Use Present Perfect Continuous.
I have been working.

2. Fast Recap Warm-Up

Choose the tense. Then say the reason out loud.

3. Tense Detective Lab

For each sentence, the student must identify: tense, reason, and create a new personal sentence.

4. Same Verb, Different Meaning

This is the key exercise. One verb can create four different time meanings.

Teacher model: WORK

Present Simple: I work in sales.
Present Continuous: I am working on a new project today.
Present Perfect: I have worked with international clients before.
Present Perfect Continuous: I have been working since 7 a.m.

5. Tense Switching: Choose the Meaning

Choose the sentence that best matches the meaning.

6. Error Correction Clinic

Correct the mistake. Then explain the reason using the decision system.

7. Speaking Frames: Real Answers

Answer each question using the target tense. Try to speak for 30–60 seconds.

8. Final Boss: Interview Answer

“Tell me about your current work, your experience, and what you are improving now.”

Your answer must include all four present forms:

Present SimplePresent ContinuousPresent PerfectPresent Perfect Continuous

Your answer

Usually, I work with clients and help them solve practical problems. At the moment, I am improving my English because I want to communicate more confidently in professional situations. I have already learned many useful expressions for meetings and interviews, and recently I have been practising longer answers so I can speak more naturally.
